September 10, 2009Dawn Harper, David Neville and Mohammed Al-Salhi Compete for World Titles in Greece
Thessaloniki, Greece – The 7th World Athletics Final will take place this weekend in the Greek region of Macedonia. Thessaloniki is a city rich in history dating back to its founding around 315 BC. Now that the World Athletics Tour has ended, the points have been tallied and the qualified athletes will compete in this historic Mediterranean city on September 12th and 13th. Three of HSI’s finest qualified for this prominent event and will join other elite athletes in the Kaftanzoglio Stadium.Olympic gold medalist, Dawn Harper, was undefeated during the beginning of her season and easily took the Championship title at the U.S. National Championships. Dawn set a new personal best in Berlin and owns several victories, among them, Golden League and Grand Prix meets. She currently holds a two-race win streak and will have no problem adding the Finals to her winning streak. As always, Dawn will be a strong contender in the 100mH this weekend.
Olympic gold and bronze medalist, David Neville, has taken silver in the last three meets he has competed in, including Grand and Super Grand Prix meets in Rieti and Monaco. The athletic world recognizes David for his memorable dive in the Beijing Olympics that earned him the bronze medal in the 400m. David went on to win a gold medal in the 4x400m at the Olympic Bird’s Nest Stadium last summer. His raw talent will surely make his performance a memorable one to watch.
Having finished in the top three in two Golden League and a Grand Prix meets, Mohammed Al-Salhi will be a strong competitor in the men’s 800m. Mohammed, a Beijing Olympian, broke the Saudi Arabian national record at the beginning of the season and looks forward to matching his new personal best.
