September 3, 2009HSI Athletes Compete in Final Golden League Meet – Memorial Van Damme
Brussels, Belgium – Tomorrow is the sixth and last meet of this year’s Golden League season. The Memorial Van Damme will also be the final ÅF Golden League meet. Starting next year, the ÅF Golden League series known for the $1 Million Jackpot will be replaced by the IAAF Diamond League. The Diamond League will include fourteen meets throughout Europe, America and Asia.
Marking the end of the 12th and final season of the ÅF Golden League, the Memorial Van Damme will surely be a spectacular and memorable event.
HSI athletes will of course compete in this noteworthy meet. Mohammed Al-Salhi, who has successfully won silver in the Oslo and Rome Golden League meets, will compete in the 800m. So far this season, Mohammed has broken the Saudi Arabian national record and ran a new personal best in the 800m. Beijing Olympian, Martial Mbandjock, will compete in the 200m. Martial has had a successful season so far; he is the Mediterranean Champion in the 100m and the French National Champion in the 200m. He has also achieved a season best in the 100m and a new personal best in the 200m.
